Hen Egg Size Hail Reported in Palatine

Hen egg size hail was reported in Palatine, IL, on the evening of August 2nd. The residents of the area reported strong winds followed by a storm that produced hail as large as a hen egg.

Heavy winds, recorded at 54 mph near O’Hare Airport, blew over a tent at a festival in DuPage County, killing one person and injuring 15 to 20 other people.
