Marble-size Hail Reported in Northbrook and Mt. Prospect
Thunderstorms erupted on a hot, steamy Monday afternoon across the Chicago area in which Midway Airport logged its 14th 90-degree day of the year, Chicago Tribune reports. While many areas received no rain, several locations were hit by strong gusty winds, hail and downpours. A cloudburst inundated Gary with 1.23 inches of rain in just 17 minutes, while 40-50 mph winds downed some trees and limbs in Plainfield, Poplar Grove, Mt. Prospect and Arlington Heights. Marble-size hail pelted Northbrook and Mt. Prospect.
